Leh-Ladakh Grand Tour

Day 01: Arrival in Leh & Acclimatization

Arrive at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport, one of the most scenic flights in the world, offering breathtaking views of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum, and Nun Kun massif. Upon arrival, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. Spend the entire day at leisure to acclimatize to the high altitude, followed by welcome tea or coffee. In the evening, visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and Leh Market. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02: Leh – Monastery Excursion

After breakfast, visit Spituk Monastery, built in the 15th century, followed by the Hall of Fame Museum, maintained by the Indian Army. After lunch, explore Sankar Gompa and Leh Palace, which stands majestically on the Namgyal Hill, offering panoramic views of the town. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 03: Leh to Sham Valley (75 km / 4 hrs)

Drive along the Indus River on the Leh-Kargil Highway, stopping at:

• Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, nestled in the Himalayas.
• Magnetic Hill, which defies gravity.
• Confluence of Indus and Zanskar Rivers.
• Likir Monastery, featuring a colossal gilded statue of Maitreya Buddha.
• Ridzong Monastery, hidden in a steep valley.

Check-in at a camp/hotel in Uletokpo or Tingmosgang for an overnight stay.

Day 04: Excursion to Lamayuru (60 km / 1.5 hrs one way)

After breakfast, visit Lamayuru Monastery (11th century), set amidst the surreal Moonland landscapes, resembling the lunar surface. Explore the ancient structures and return to your camp/hotel in Sham Valley for an overnight stay.

Day 05: Sham Valley to Leh via Alchi (75 km / 3 hrs)

Drive back to Leh, stopping at:

• Alchi Gompa (11th century), a unique monastery with exquisite murals.
• Basgo Monastery, showcasing the ruins of Ladakh’s 15th-century capital.

Check in at your hotel in Leh and relax for the evening.

Day 06: Leh – Chumathang – Tsomoriri (240 km / 6-7 hrs)

Drive to Tsomoriri Lake, en route visiting:

• Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh.
• 3 Idiots Rancho School.
• Thiksey Monastery, built in tiered Tibetan-style architecture.
• Chumathang Hot Springs, known for their medicinal properties.
• Sumdah Village.

Arrive at Tsomoriri Lake (14,000 ft), known for its pristine waters and diverse birdlife. Overnight stay at a camp near the lake.

Day 07: Tsomoriri to Tsokar (80 km / 3 hrs)

Explore Korzok Village, one of the highest settlements in the world. Later, drive to Tsokar Lake, home to the Changpa nomadic tribes, famous for their Pashmina wool. Observe their traditional lifestyle before checking into a camp for an overnight stay.

Day 08: Tsokar – Tanglang La – Leh (153 km / 6 hrs)

Drive back to Leh via Tanglang La (one of the highest motorable passes at 17,582 ft). En route, visit Hemis Monastery, the largest monastery of Ladakh. Check in at your Leh hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 09: Leh to Pangong Lake (140 km / 4-5 hrs)

Travel via Changla Pass (5,486 m), stopping at Sakti Village and Tangtse for a quick break. Arrive at the breathtaking Pangong Lake (14,000 ft), famous for its changing hues of blue and its feature in the movie 3 Idiots. Check in at a camp near the lake for an overnight stay.

Day 10: Pangong Lake to Leh (140 km / 6 hrs)

Spend the morning soaking in the serene beauty of Pangong Lake. Later, drive back to Leh and check in at your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 11: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (120 km / 4-5 hrs)

Cross Khardung La (18,390 ft), the highest motorable road in the world, and descend into Nubra Valley (also known as Ldumra or the Valley of Flowers). Upon arrival, check into a camp/hotel in Hunder. In the evening, explore the local villages and experience Ladakhi hospitality.

Day 12: Exploring Nubra Valley

• Enjoy a double-humped Bactrian camel ride on the sand dunes of Hunder.
• Visit Diskit Monastery (515 years old), offering stunning views of the valley.
• Stop by Panamik Hot Springs, known for their therapeutic properties.
• Observe the Siachen Glacier region (restricted to military personnel).

Return to Hunder for an overnight stay.

Day 13: Nubra Valley to Leh (120 km / 4-5 hrs)

Return to Leh via Khardung La. Spend the afternoon at leisure and explore Leh’s bustling markets for souvenirs. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 14: Depart Leh

After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for your onward journey, concluding a memorable Ladakh adventure!
